Switching rooms
Found some friends to move in with? Or maybe sharing an apartment wasn’t quite for you? Then it is possible to switch rooms! 😊
Switching rooms depends on availability and we cannot guarantee that you can switch rooms immediatly. During the autumn semester, there is rarely an apportunity to switch rooms before November/December. During the spring semester, it is usually possible to switch rooms at any time.
Switching takes place no earlier than 14 days after the contract has been signed/the switch has been approved and clarified. If you have paid rent in the month you are applying for a switch, you can only switch rooms at the beginning of the next month (this applies to those who are changing housing type).
You do not need to terminate your tenancy agreement to switch rooms. There is also no notice period beyond the 14 days after the switch has been approved.
We charge a NOK 500 fee for switching rooms, this fee will be added to the next rent.
From the day you pick up the key, you have 3 days to switch rooms. If you spend more than 3 days to move, you must pay rent for both rooms until the key is handed over.
You pick up the key to your new room at the housing office on day 1, and must handover the key to the old room to the person who does the clean-out/checkout no later than day 3.

Cleaning checks take place on weekdays between 09:00-14:00. You can choose when you want it during the 3 days you have for moving, but it must be completed at latest on the third day. If you switch rooms during the weekend, a cleaning check can be done on the Friday before, or the Monday after.
You must show up at the agreed upon time for the check. If you move without a checkout, you will not be given the opportunity to clean the room again. The room will be considered moved out from and you will be charged for expenses related to not approved cleaning.
Remember to update your address in the post office/civil register, and state the new address when you order packages.
If you switch rooms within the same housing type that you currently live in, all you need to do is send us a message via hybel.no. We will look at which rooms are available, and will find you one that fits you better. If there is a particular room you wish to switch to, you can also write that in the same message.
We will register the move for you once you have handed over the keys to your old room.
You must submit an application as normal for the type of housing you wish to switch to. Write in the application that you already have housing with us and that you wish to switch rooms. If you have a specific room in mind, write that in the same message. If the room you have applied for is available, we will send you a new contract you must sign. The contract will have a starting date of at least 14 days later.
